The History of Don Hinkel Real Estate & Mary Coleman
Don Hinkel was born in Reno and attended school in Reno. After graduating from Reno High School, Don served in the U.S. Coast Guard in Okinawa. After World War II, Don graduated from college in San Francisco.
In 1968, Don became a real estate agent in Reno. In 1969, he opened his own real estate brokerage company, and his office has been continuously operational since then -45 years. Don has the distinction of owning and continuously operating one of the oldest brokerage companies in the State of Nevada.
During his outstanding career, from 1972-1979, Don first served on various committees of the Reno Board of Realtors and then served as a Director of the Board. In 1973, Don served as Chairman of Multiple Listing Service. From 1980-1982, he was President of the Nevada Realtors Credit Union.
In 1996, Don was inducted as a Life Member of the Reno-Sparks Association of Realtors. In 2009, Don became a Realtor Emeritus of the National Association of Realtors. Throughout his career, Don has won many awards, and continues today in serving his clients with his years of expertise in general brokerage and property management.
Since 2010, Mary Coleman has been the Broker- Manager and Property Manager of Don Hinkel Real Estate. She has been a licensed realtor since 1978, and formerly owned Real estate franchise in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Currently, she oversees the day-to-day operations of Don Hinkel Real Estate in both the Reno and Las Vegas offices. Additionally, Mary oversees the Property Management of approximately 100 properties Her responsibilities include the management of the properties and the accountability of the Tenant Security Trust Account. She also manages three (3) agents who hold Property Management Permits. Mary has been a top leader in the industry throughout her career having received many awards for her outstanding performance.
Mary Coleman was born and educated in Massachusetts. She was always interested in real estate having bought her first home at age 19. When she later moved to Virginia, her passion was looking at new homes. Because of her love for real estate, she became licensed in July, 1978 in McLean, Virginia. After moving to Las Vegas, in the 1990s, Mary continued with her real estate career there until she moved to Reno in 2000. Mary also purchased a real estate franchise where she opened a brokerage in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, but she missed Nevada and subsequently returned to Reno. Presently, she is the broker-manager of Don Hinkel Real Estate with offices in both Reno and Las Vegas. Besides being active in general brokerage, Mary is also a licensed Property Manager and is able to offer her clients full service in both general brokerage and property management transactions. In addition to receiving many awards, Mary is also certified in distressed properties (short sales), and foreclosures. She is also a HUD broker.
